BJUKMB/SD 2811259 -- This hospital works with a team approach to the screening of women including mammography, diagnosis and treatment. They are recruiting Radiographers & Advanced Practitioners to join the team in preparation for the opening of the new Imaging Departments which will have state of the art equipment. It works in partnership with other healthcare providers. This organisation values the contribution and skill of its staff; it provides continuous training and development for staff and upgrading of equipment required in a screening program. This is a very rewarding role for a person who has a passion to work in a caring environment and who can sympathize with the patients.
Duties
• Able to conduct examinations across a range of clinical specialities upon a range of patient types, both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi professional team, in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal standards and requirements.
• Able to interpret Clinician’s requirements, to determine the appropriate radiographic technique and ensure that it is performed in accordance with best practice and that the resultant images are diagnostic and advise others
• To use discretion to work outside departmental standards when clinical circumstances necessitate i.e. undertaking additional or specialist techniques and authorise others to do so
• To independently assess each patient and adapt radiographic technique according to the needs of the patient and assist others in the assessment of patients
• To check finished radiographs of self and others against accepted diagnostic standards, including patient details and to act according to findings using appropriate feed back methods.
• May offer a verbal opinion of the images taken by themselves or their colleagues and provide consultative advice to other practitioners and clinicians
• Consult the superintendent radiographer to develop an area of expertise relevant to service provision
• To be able to use the departmental radiology information computer system to register patients, to check results and appointments
• To be able to accurately use CR and PACS to a standard that allows advanced use and basic troubleshooting.
• To relate to all manner of patients with understanding and care, respecting their privacy and dignity to provide a caring and confidential service
• To work as part of the departmental health care team
• Voluntary participation in the out of hours rota
• To be competent in and ensure, the optimal use of all the X-ray equipment identifying and satisfying training needs.
• To undertake the departmental and Trust induction programme
• To adhere to all Trust policies including the Health and Safety Regulations; COSHH Regulations; the Data Protection Act.

• To comply with all radiation protection policies such as IR(ME)R the Code of Practice for the Protection of Persons against Ionising Radiations arising from Medical and Dental use
• To observe all manual handling criteria when: -
- Moving patients from waiting areas into the x-ray rooms
- Transferring patients on and off the X-ray table
- Positioning patients into the correct radiographic position
- Moving mobile X-ray equipment

• To be aware of and participate in all Quality Control procedures within the Department, including Quality Assurance testing for image quality and equipment safety and ensure that they are carried out to the departmental protocols, and to help with clinical audits within the Department.
• To undertake radiography at other hospitals within the trust if required.
• To undertake any further relevant duties as required when requested by the Superintendent Radiographer or Radiology Manager
• To attend a Major Incident procedure when required whether real or simulated.

Requirements:
• Hold either a degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiology
• Hold a current state registration certificate (HPC)
• To have 3 years experience post graduate experience
• Have a portfolio evidence of CPD
• Extended clinical role or management training
