Senior Occupational Therapist (Dublin)
 

BJUKBM/SD 2312270 -- An enjoyable and challenging opportunity has become available for a Senior Occupational Therapist to care for the elderly in a community based setting. Adapting to the changing needs of our patients, this hospital provides excellent care for its patients in a warm, caring and friendly environment. As this post infers a high level of responsibility the ideal individual for this post will be able to demonstrate initiative and work independently.

Responsibilities:

• To participate in the day to day running of the OT Service.
• Work with clients to identify OT goals and develop client centred treatment plans.
• To participate in a multi-disciplinary team, communicating with and working in co-operation with other disciplines.
• To undertake such other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned by the General Manager.
• Provide comprehensive assessment and treatment programmes for patients and to evaluate and modify same as appropriate.
• To review patient’s progress, record information and report with a multidisciplinary team through clinical meetings and written reports.
• To monitor and keep up to date with developments in Occupational Therapy and all relevant matters to ensure maintenance of knowledge and skill base and to facilitate up to date practice.
• To direct and supervise Staff Grade Occupational Therapists, support staff and Occupational Therapy students.
• Ensure the safety of self and others and the maintenance of the environments and equipment used in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety Act, 1989 and local policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Validation of qualification by the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland, if qualification is gained outside Ireland.
• Ideally have three years post-graduate working within the care of the elderly.
• Hold an appropriate professional qualification recognised by collage of Occupational Therapists.
• Good communication skills and enthusiasm team worker
• Demonstrates self-awareness and knowledge of own strengths and needs.
